My suggestion to teachers who are going to teach chilfren how to read is to use phonics. When you use phonics, you're teaching kids that words are made up of sounds and how to read the letters that make each sound. To motivate a children to read the use phonics is very useful,but be careful on not confusing kids at the beginning by explaining that some letters represent more than one sound. They can learn this concept after they've mastered the basics. There are some other problems when we talk about reading like when you don't know which book to read, to resolve that problem, I suggest you to look the cover and the back of the page to know exactly what the book is about.
Do not buy a book because someone else is reading it, always try to aks for more opinions about an specific book, never buy it without knowing something about it.
In my opinion,reading is not just a word or an action, it is a feeling that only the one who reads can experience. Many People could think that reading is boring or not a good hobby,but when you start reading a novel or whatever you want yo read, you get into a completely new world and then it is difficult to get out of it.
Obiously the love and passion of the reader has yo do with the kind of book that the person is going to read.
When you are going to buy a book or ask for one in the library, you have yo see the cover and the back to know what the book is about,because if you pick a book that is not of your interest you will lose the love and passion for reading or never obtain it.
As I wrote before, reading is not just a word or an action,when we talk about reading we are talking about a magic world that we create while we are reading, the world of our dreams.
We can't ignore the fact that reading can help to uinderstan a lot of things and situations that can help you in your daily life.
There is not an specific origin, when we talk about reading, because reading as an activity has existed sinse human being was created millions of years ago. Another theory is that reading was created when someone started to read a book for pleasure, and not because someone else told him/her to read but as we said before nobody created reading, It appeared over the years and as the society was developing. When someone reads for pleasure, he or her feels something similir to when we love someone or when we are with our best friends, we also experiment that feeling when we are with some valued objects such a photograph or your family or when we start remembering some memories of our life that will stay with us for ever.
There is not a magic way to promote reading because is like a feeling that is always with us. Sometimes we can think that reading is boring but there are some moments when we feel and think that reading is the most fantastic thing in the whole world because we go trough many different moments and moods. Reading is like a meeting with our soul or just with ourselves, you can free your mind of every-day problems or you can "feed" imagination when you are reading.
Books are always important when we talk about reading because many people read books when the book looks interesting or when they are "marketing books" that are the most famous books in an specific period of time and everybody wants to read them and that is not the point of reading. Is important to read when you want to, it doesn't matter if someone tells you that the book is very bad, you have to read what you want to , something that looks interesting to you, something that you can feel you are connected with and not something that you want to read because everybody is reading it, that not always mean that the book is a really good one.
Today more than ever, reading for pleasure becomes a very important value for the human beings because it promotes a "space of internal connection" and on these days, not many people read a book in their free time, many of them prefer to watch T.V or chat with some friends and that's why so many people don't even know how to write. This is an important problem in our society an it could be changed if instead of watching T.V, you pick a boo and start reading it, perhaps it would be the first step to change our society.
